There’s a lot to pop about at the annual Marion Popcorn Festival. For starters, it’s claimed to be the largest popcorn festival in the world and attracts more than 250,000 visitors per year. With all of that notoriety, it’s no wonder that the American Bus Association named it one of the Top 100 Events in North America. The free entertainment has included headlining bands like Foreigner, Phil Vassar, Blake Shelton, and Styx. In addition, the fest hosts a parade with over 300 units, bike tour, 5k run and fun walk, fine arts and crafts, the Kiddie Korner, 50 and over softball tournament, Poppin’ Pooch Pageant and more. There are numerous rides and activities for the whole family, and of course, a popcorn museum, which displays The Dunbar Concession Wagon used by Paul Newman in Central Park to promote “his” popcorn and much more. Oh, and for art lovers, don’t miss out on the popcorn sculptures.
