Known as having the “Best Strawberry Shortcake In the World”, the Newark Strawberry Festival attracts visitors from all over to come central Ohio to come and experience the annual experience. The weekend long event in June with more than a quarter century of tradition has something for everyone. The festival opens with the Strawberry Pageant and crowning of Festival Princesses. The food at the festival includes Velvet Ice Cream, specialty strawberry shortcake, pizza, sandwiches, fries, and other tasty foods.  Along with non-stop stage entertainment, rides and games, also over 90 artisans, crafters, and vendors from across Ohio come for the event. A large amount of the event proceeds help fund Kiwanis Park and Camp O’Bannon, a camp for underprivileged children.
