  • Location: Victorian Village (in Columbus, Ohio’s Short North area)

  • Phone: 614-228-2912 or e-mail tour@victorianvillage.org

Victorian Village residents are busily preparing to welcome a couple thousand visitors from all over the Midwest to their annual Tour of Homes and Gardens.  Tour buses will circle the route all day but the tour is also a very enjoyable walk through shady, tree-lined streets.  There is also a Preview Tour the day before the main tour which includes the tour plus an elegant dinner in a private home for which $100 donation are requested.

All proceeds from the tour go towards enhancing and preserving this architecturally and historically-significant neighborhood on the National Register of Historic Places.  This beautiful area was developed in the late 1800s but fell on hard times in the mid-1900s as people began moving to the suburbs.  In 1974, the area was named Victorian Village (due to the architectural styles of its century-old homes) and an architectural review commission and neighborhood society was formed.  Thus a renaissance began and today this is one of the most desirable communities in Columbus.

It is located between the downtown skyscrapers and the sprawling OSU campus.  The eastern boundary of Victorian Village is the Short North Arts District – reputedly the largest gathering of art galleries between New York and Chicago.  There are also many wonderful restaurants and B&Bs in the area.  The tour features 10 beautiful homes and gardens plus a historic church that just received a major renovation.
