Algonquin Mill Fall Festival visitors can step back in time as they explore Algonquin Mill’s log cabins, an antique print shop, a one-room schoolhouse, bookstore, and stagecoach inn. Steam-driven flouring, saw, and shingle mills give visitors a chance to learn about life in the pioneer era. In addition, there are demonstrations in chair caning, wood carving, broom making, chain-saw carving, candle dipping, rug making, and weaving.

Enjoy a pork-and-sauerkraut dinner, bean soup, chili, and more. The Carroll County Historical Society sells 9,000 pounds of sauerkraut each year. The historical society also sells apple butter, maple syrup, stone-ground cornmeal, and buckwheat flour. Throughout Saturday and Sunday, visitors can listen to country, bluegrass, and gospel music. On Friday, high-school bands and choirs will perform. Children will enjoy miniature train rides, miniature barn raising, pony rides, and farm animals. Carroll County artifacts and genealogical information will be on display, as well as antique farm tools.

Train enthusiasts will love the New York Central railroad station, complete with an HO model train. An art and photography show features the work of local artists and photographers. A church service will be held in the schoolhouse on Sunday at 8 a.m. The Algonquin Mill Fall Festival provides a beautiful outing for everyone.
