This year, Darke County invites families and visitors alike to celebrate the season through a series of beloved holiday events that have become local traditions.
The holiday season kicks off with Hometown Holiday Christmas in Versailles on November 7, 2025. Carriage rides, an activity tent filled with games, cookie decorating, popcorn, balloons, and more, and of course, Santa Claus ushers in the season!
Greenville is the place to be on November 22, 2025! It starts with the Christmas Preview Open House hosted by Historic Bear’s Mill and continues a few miles down the road in Greenville with the Hometown Holiday Lighted Horse & Lighted Vehicle Parade. Come early to cross off that Christmas shopping list at downtown Greenville’s quaint and colorful shops. The evening parade features more than 50 lighted horses, carriages, and wagons, and is followed by the newly added lighted vehicle parade. Greenville’s tree lighting caps the perfect day!
A weekend of wonder follows on December 5-7, 2025! The holiday weekend begins on December 5 with the Historic Bear’s Mill Luminary Walk, a candlelit stroll through the woods to a campfire and camaraderie. Warm up inside at the gift shop filled with unique items and special finds. On December 6, Shawnee Prairie hosts another beautiful luminary walk to the Log Cabin. Inside the Nature Center, hot cocoa and cookies await. Also on December 6, the Bradford, Ohio, Railroad Museum holds its popular Polar Express ticketed event. Get your golden ticket punched, enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, and see Santa at this wonderful museum.
Chenoweth Trails offers a weekend of family fun December 5-7, 2025. Christmas trees decorated by community organizations, a pavilion filled with crafts and games, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and a fun walk through the woods greet visitors. A fee is required.
Make sure to get your ticket for Main Street Greenville’s Sugar Stroll on December 11, 2025. Discounts and deals aren’t the only treats! Ticket holders received cookies and other goodies from participating businesses. Don’t forget to visit Santa’s House!
