Campus Martius Museum in Marietta focuses on migration in Ohio’s history. The museum is located on the site of the first organized American settlement in the Northwest Territory. The first floor of the museum is dedicated to the early settlement and even has part of the original fort enclosed in a wing of the building. Other exhibits deal with the history of the local Indian tribes and their relations with the early white settlers, life in early 18th century Marietta and how it evolved throughout the years and features many artifacts recovered from early life in Marietta. Other exhibits go on to explore two more waves of migration to Ohio and how it affected life in the entire state. The museum also features 90 pieces from the Ohio Historical Society’s collection.
