Summer is heating up in Coshocton County this July! The fun doesn’t stop after America’s 250th birthday; Coshocton keeps the party going all summer long. From musicals set in a beautiful botanical location to summer concerts and music festivals across court squares and fairgrounds, this rural county has all the trappings of a picture-perfect summer getaway.
The Secret Garden, presented by GhostBox Productions, has showtimes at 7pm on July 9, 10, 11, 16, & 17 at Clary Gardens. The story, based on a novel of the same name, follows a young orphan named Mary who is sent to live with her uncle in the English countryside. She finds an abandoned garden there and nurtures it back to prosperity, transforming herself and others along the way. Clary Gardens is the perfect setting for this production. The 20-acre botanical garden has a covered pavilion at its heart, where the musical will take place. Attendees will be surrounded by greenery and florals, bringing the show to life in a unique way. Coshocton is celebrating America 250 on July 17-19 with special activities and programs all weekend long! On Friday, the weekend starts off with a bang during the Cheers to 250 Years Pub Crawl across Coshocton’s Historic Downtown District and Historic Roscoe Village. Participating establishments will have various drink specials themed for the occasion. Saturday morning brings the Coshocton Farmers Market, 9am-3pm, at the new Skip’s Landing park and pavilions. Dave Barno, a living history interpreter, will be there for guests to interact with and get a slice of what life was like during the Revolutionary War. More historic interpretations will take place at Clary Gardens 12-4pm. Free tours of the Coshocton County Courthouse are on Saturday afternoon, with local historian Ken Smailes presenting history talks. On Saturday evening, 7 Bridges, an Eagles Tribute band, will perform on Main Street at 7:30pm, with a light show on the courthouse following the concert. The festivities continue Sunday with free admission to Historic Roscoe Village’s Canal Town Discovery Walk, Monticello III Horse Drawn Canal Boat rides and free admission to the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum, where a special exhibit commemorating the museum’s 95th year, as well as America’s 250th, will be in the upstairs exhibit room.
Coshocton knows how to rock! Music enthusiasts will love Rock Coshocton, a 3-day music festival at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds July 24-26. Now in its fifth year, Rock Coshocton is an Ohio favorite. Friday of the festival features country music, while Saturday features rock. The lineup for this year includes Tyler Braden as the headliner on Friday, as well as Pecos and the Rooftops, Carson Drive, and Andrew Lee Band. On Saturday, Black Stone Cherry will be preceded by Them Dirty Roses, Blacktop Mojo, The Filthy Heathens, and Wheeler Mountain Woofs.
