The Sandusky County Historic Jail and Dungeon tours in Fremont, Ohio: This has been the home of the county sheriff along with his family and countless criminals for many years. The home and jail was built in the late eighteen hundreds with the goal to give the prisoners a sense of home. Some would say this was an early version of rehabilitation. In 2003 the building was restored and is currently used to house the offices of the County Commissioners.
Along with the home, guest will experience the old dungeon located under the Sandusky County Courthouse. Most will conclude if this dungeon was used as the jail today, crime would be at its lowest. The tour will end with a visit to the Gallows Hall. During the evening the guest will be entertained and educated by actual stories that took place behind these walls.
