Coshocton is known for Historic Roscoe Village, America’s Canal Town. The neighborhood is filled with 1800s-era buildings that once supported the Ohio and Erie Canal. They are now home to shops, restaurants and pubs. History lovers enjoy the Canal Town Discovery Walk, a self-guided living history tour, which is available Sunday and Tuesday through Friday. On Saturdays in October, the tour changes to the family-friendly Legends and Lanterns Tour, which tells the spooky side of the village’s history.
The Shops of Roscoe Village feature locally owned businesses, including a candy store, clothing boutiques, art studios, and a store dedicated to Coshocton County’s hardworking local makers. “Visitors love the variety of items available in the shops,” said Mindy Brems, director of the Coshocton Visitors Bureau. “The shops are filled with handmade leather goods, locally made food and wines, home decor, bath & body, clothing, fine jewelry, pottery, woodworking, candy, and American-made flags.” Leashed pets are always welcome in Historic Roscoe Village–there’s even a specialty shop just for pets! Shops are locally owned and hours vary, but most are open daily until 5pm.
