The Historic Kirtland Nativity exhibit in Kirtland, Ohio, features 620 loaned nativity crèches, thousands of lights, and sacred Christmas music. Among hundreds of nativities loaned by area, residents are representations from about 30 countries depicting how cultures around the globe celebrate Christmas. For instance, the exhibit features a Croatian nativity initially created by a refugee in an Australian camp at the end of World War II. A miniature nativity exhibit features examples of primitive art and very detailed paintings and carvings.

The exhibit is a past American Bus Association “Top 100 Events in North America” selection. The collection occupies the entire Visitor’s Center of the restored Western Reserve-era village and a one-room schoolhouse next door. Of special interest to families and young children is The Children’s Room, where younger visitors can enjoy child-friendly nativities, dress up in costume, and join a child-size nativity scene for a photo opportunity and an “I spy” seek-and-find activity.
