Inland Waterways Festival in Marietta: A weekend filled with fun, family activities that will also educate on the history, industry and environmental aspects of our inland waterways. There will be demonstrations, displays, children’s activities and living history performances.
Model Sternwheel boats will be on display under the Museum and “Life Below the Waterline,” a traveling freshwater aquarium will be set up to demonstrate the diversity of life sustained by the Ohio River. River Works Discovery for children will be offered to encourage education about the rivers. A steam powered launch will be on display. There will be demonstrations of lock and dam systems, steam power engines, and knot tying. A deckhand line throwing competition will take place for adults and children and on Saturday evening the Marietta Boat Club will feature a parade of boats on the Muskingum River.
The Valley Gem Sternwheeler will be offering special trips for the weekend including a special lock tour on the Muskingum River on Saturday from 11:30am to 2:30pm.
