Come to downtown Pomeroy for a gathering on the mighty Ohio River to “Kick in” the summer season. Friday night’s Cruise In from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the lower Pomeroy riverfront parking lot promises much activity when the classic cars and trucks roll in to allow the owners to showcase their collection of all types of vehicles. This is a free event. Door prizes and trophies will be given. Entertainment will take place each evening down on the river amphitheater. The “Anything that Floats” Contest will take place at noon Saturday and by “anything” that means “anything”. Saturday, there will be a bicycle parade and talent contest for kids along with bounce houses from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday evening the “Tribute to the Truckers” takes place and the semi tractors and various trucks will take over downtown to showcase their “home away from home” on wheels. This will be the second year for everyone to thank all the truckers for their dedicated, hard work. Trucks will begin rolling in to downtown at 4 p.m. Door prizes and trophies will be given and all truckers are encouraged to share their trucks with the public. This is their chance to “get up close and personal”. Truckers join the light parade at 9 p.m. Saturday evening at dusk the “Lighted Boat Parade” will begin in front of the amphitheater. Entertainment, good food, and lots of prize $$$ for participants. For additional information check out Kickin’ Summer Bash on Facebook or by contacting Brenda Roush at 740.591.0530.
