The Put-in-Bay Monarch Fest will feature various activities, games, food, and music for the whole family to enjoy. There will even be butterfly races for the kids with wings available! In addition to fun games and face painting, festival-goers can help LEINWC with monarch tagging efforts. There will be nets available for families to use to catch butterflies, then observe how Monarchs are tagged before they are released for their southern migration. This is part of a large Monarch tagging research effort spanning the continent from Canada to Mexico, which significantly contributes to Monarch conservation. The South Bass Island Lighthouse will also be open to the public for tours.
