The designation recognized the city’s commitment to holiday cheer, heartfelt community efforts, and festive charm that looks straight out of a holiday movie.
Walking through the historic Boneyfiddle District during Winterfest feels like stepping into a snow globe. Storefronts are decked out in wreaths and garlands, windows glow with light displays, and bundled-up families shuffle along Market Street holding steaming cups of cocoa. The centerpiece is the real ice skating rink—yes, actual ice, not that plastic “glice” you find at some festivals—which draws kids wobbling on their first skates, couples hand-in-hand, and brave soloists who spin (and occasionally fall) with flair. Holiday music drifts through the air as skaters laugh and glide beneath strings of glowing bulbs overhead.
