The Wright Brothers Aviation Center and Dayton History at Carillon Park: The world’s first practical airplane, the 1905 Wright Flyer III, built by the Wright brothers and flown at Huffman Prairie outside Dayton, Ohio, is the centerpiece exhibit. The Wright Flyer III is the only airplane designated a National Historic Landmark (1990) and a Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark (2003). The aviation center is located within Carillon Historical Park, which tells the story of Dayton as a city of creativity and innovation.
